Abstract:

In response to the growing demand for high-quality online education, faculty are continuously seeking effective strategies for rapid development and support of online courses and programs. This abstract presents a program tailored around a summer cohort model of team-based course development. In an approach rooted in collaborative efforts and the idea of shared courses for continuous delivery, teams engage in training sessions and consultations focused on rapid course design methodologies and effective pedagogical strategies. Join us to discuss program outcomes and key program features such as template-based design, hands-on workshops, ongoing design support, ongoing professional development, and a resource repository.

Welcome to our presentation on advancing high-quality online education, Developing Quality Online Courses Quick Using a Rapid Design Model.

As institutions strive to enhance their online offerings, faculty are constantly implementing new and effective strategies to streamline course and program development.

Today, we're excited to share a summer cohort model designed for team-based course development. This innovative approach emphasizes collaboration and aims to create sustainable courses through rapid iterative design over the summer.

For the last three years, our college has provided support to over 78 faculty and 40 graduate students who are in the process of developing 5 online programs and 47 online courses. Each course is developed by teams of faculty members or a mix of faculty and graduate students.

Our process includes providing individualized instructional design and administrative support as faculty work on crafting an online syllabus, securing university approvals, and building a master course sandbox.
In this session, we'll explore key aspects of our program, including template-based design, hands-on workshops, ongoing support, professional development, and our Blackboard community that contains self-paced professional development. Join us to discover the outcomes and features of our program from the last three years.
